Early this morning the White Star steamer Corinthic arrived from the south. She will load a large quantity of dairy produco here. Another arrival wns the warship Philomel from the China Station. She is at the naval anchorage, o(F the Queen's "Wharf. It is expected that sho will remain hero for somo time. After being in port for several weeks, the New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Tongariro sailed early this. morning for "Wellington ji.nd' Nelson, where she will land the balance of her cargo. The members of tile now union havo modified their views in regard to limiting tlio size nf tim body. At a.meeting lastoiight 1.33 applicants for positions were admitted.
