The> Hutt tennis courts presented an animated appearance on Saturday, when tho tournament of the president's rackets was commenced. .The entries were large, and competition was keen. In the first round, the results were as under {the handicaps being given in parentheses):—li. Brown (22) beat Heketa (15) by GO —54. B. Brown (3) beat Pearco (i'J), CO—47. Bunny (2 ifj beat Dingle (2-5), CO—ol. Jackson (10) beat Ponanga (10), GO—o7. Jonson (17) beat Boycs (30), GO—s7. In tho second round Bunny beat R, Brown, 00—54. Mitchell (17) beat Jensen, i.30 —52. Power (s;cr.) beat Lees (7), 60—52. Bond (22) bca{ Bridge (27), 00—10. Treadwell (19) beat, Brocferick (25), 60— 58. Bond beat Treadwell, GO—ss. The third and filial handicaps will be played next Saturday. Much interest is being taken in tho Ladies' Handicap, to be commenced this week.
