Samuel Thompson was called on to answer a charge of 'having taken part in a riot at Waterloo Quay on October 30. The case arose out of thn disturbance at tho Post and Telegraph Stores, and cvidenco was given that the accused took A. prominent part in the trouble. .Ho refused to leave tlvo yard when toM to do so, and called out "Cojuo <in, boys!" to tho crowd outside,'who then tore down part of the fcnco arid rushed tin; special constables. "Hio accused pleaded not guilty, and was committed to the Supreme Court for trial, bail, £100, being allowed. Uncertain of Identity. Ernest Hackett, represented l>,v Mr. J. F. W. Dickson, pleaded not- irnilty to a charge of having used iusuKina; language at Jervois Quay. The principal witness for tho prosecution was, however, unable to swear to the identity^of tiro accused, ,ind tlvo magistrate dismissed tho information.
