SCENE AT A RAILWAY STATION
PICKETS EJECTED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association,) Auckland, December 0. An exciting incident occurred at tlio railway station previou-s to tho departure of the Slain Trunk express Jast night. IVolvo seamen or iiremcA woro leaving for Foxton, apparently, to work a vessel there. A strong party of striko pickets assembled, and surrounded tjio carriage containing tho workers.' A lively flare-up followed. , Guards and porters, on hearing tfro disturbance, ejected the pickets from the carriages, to tho accompaniment of jeers and menacing behaviour. Tho police woro summoned, and a constable appearing, was received with hooting, lie pushed his way through tho crowd, and ordered the pickets off the. station, where lie met with resistance, and Used some force. Intense excitement prevailed, tho strikers keeping up a mulling firo of taunts, and hooting tho seamen and constable. It is stated that a few blows woro exchanged, bilt no one was seriously injured.
