THE OLYMPIC COUNCIL.
. YEARLY' MEETING. The annual meeting of the Olympic Council for New Zealand was hold last night. There were present: Messrs. A. Marryatt (amateur athletics), who presided, A. Davics (amateur athletics), B. St. J. Beero and B, R. Ivcosing (tennis), A. D. Bayfield (rowing), G. S. Hill (swimming), and B. A. Guise (secretary). The report and balance-sheet (already published) were adopted: The following officers wero elected :— Chairman, Mr. A. Marryatt; lion, secretary and treasurer, Mr. Ji. A. Guise; auditor, Mr. C. I). Morpeth; representative en amateur sports badv, Air. G. S.Hill. Appreciation of the work of the honorary secretary (Mr. B. A. Guiso) was expressed, and a small bonus was voted him.
Tho following recommendation was made: —"That this council favours tho sotting up of an Australasian' Olympic Council to be composed of tho representative for Australasia on tho International Committee, and one representative resident in tho State or Dominion which lie represents, the voting to bo by male vote, and the conference of delegates to bo held periodically. That this notice of motion lie forwarded to the various Olympic Councils and to Messrs. Coombes (representative for Australasia on the international Olympic Committee) and Arnold (secretary), and also that tho New Zealand Council endeavour to be directly represented at tho conference."
Tho delegates were asked to approach their associations with a view to their bodies making levies on their members in behalf of tho N.Z. Olympic Council. Tho council will endeavour to arrange to entertain the. American athbtes, why arrive in Now Zealand next week.
