Show opened today in line but threatening weather, Tho entries totalled 968, as against 871 last year, and tho quality of the stock was filly up to Itho average of previous years. The following championships were awarded:—Sheep—Border Leicester—M. Sutherland ■(Waimatc), ram and owe. Lincolns—Now Zealand and Australian Land Company, ram and ewe. Romiicy Marsh—J. A. Murdoch M(erino Downs), ram; T. L. Barnhill (Castle Rock), ewe. Corricdalcs—New Zealand and Australian Land Co., ram and owe. Cattle—Jerseys: V. E. Hollyor (North East Harbour), bull and cow. Shorthorns—Riecarton Estate' (Canterbury), bull and cow. Polled Angus—John Douglas's Trustees (Palmerston), bull; Ilobcrts and Co. (Middleniarch), cow. Ayrshircs—A. Gillies (Hampden), bull; Cowan Bros. (Enheld), cow. Holstein Frcsians—Thomas Dohorty (Motliven), bull; C. A. Shiel (Caversham), cow. Horses—Draught mare, P. W. Borrie.
