Those, who contemplate racing on tho West Coast ;vt Christmas time should note that the lieefton nominations close to-morrow night. Weights for Hie Woodville meeting are duo to-morrow, and acceptances close after the Eeilding meeting. The yearling colta by Dowiubirc— Neva, and Treadmill—liigleiieiik, purchased by Jlr. A. W. Rutherford, juii., at the Kinloch salo tin's month, have been gelded, and will bo spelled for a few months prior to being broken in. At Riccarton, Coroniform, who has had a lengthy respite, will bo put into work again shortly by A. M'Aulay. W. H. Thomson has just taken in hand a maro by Stronghold. Carolus, in the samo stable, is still in a bad way with a severe cold, and some time must elapso before lie cm rejoin the activo brigade. Tho Riccarton trainer, W. 0. The Pilgrim's Progress horse has been a consistent stake-earner, and should do well if put to the stud. l''ire God, the smart two-jcar-old trained by G. J. Pine, at Riccavton, lias been showing signs of soreness, and is being treated to a- spell. The three-year-old Ally by Martian—FJosiuhcle in the same stable contracted influenza recently, necessitating her being thrown out of work. Stardancer will probably carry Mr. C. G. Dalgcty's colours in the .Railway Handicap, to be decided at tho Auckland Summer Meeting, wliilo Warstnp will contest the Derby and weight-for-age events. Marsa will also b;> taken north, and will be a starter in blie two-year-old events. Royal Marine wait amiss after racing at Ricearton, and so far his tramcr, \Y. Mitchell, has been unable to get him back to tho coast. Rurik is also located at Ricearton until Royal Marino is ablo to travel. Tho well-known Porirua trainer, J. H. Piosser, has again been laid up, but at latest advices ho was doing well. - Word from Ricearton states that as a large proportion of the available railway boxes aro being used for the conveyance of the 'horses of special constables, several trainers had difficulty in getting their teams to the Timaru meeting. Tho chestnut marc Indra, (Renown — Searchlight) has run her last race, and is to go to tho stud. Flower of tho West was placed second in tho Short.; Handicap at Timaru yesterday, but many thought that Stonmaid should have been given that berth. A private telegram received in Wellington states that the decision was received with' hoots. There was another hostile demonstration over the result of tho President's Welter Handicap. TJmeraboy, winner of the Otaio Hurdles at Timaru yesterday, showed winning form at Ashburton, and was runner-up to Coronotted on the concluding day at Ricearton. Since tho lastmentioned meeting lie has been taken, in charge by W. M'Donald, and was ridden yesterday by L. Hcgarty, who recently returned from Australia. M.'Donald also trained First Glance, winner of tho Shorts Handicap.
Kremlin, wbo figured in the Tiri Hurdles at Takapuna yesterday, must bo one of the oldest horses in training in tho Dominion. As far back as 1905 lie won tbo Winter. Cup. He is now 16 years of age. Flora ..MacDonald (Boniform —Lady I.ocliicl) has been very consistent of. late. At Goro siio won the big handicap cash day, and followed this up by scoring in the Otaio Plate Yesterday she placed the Summer Cup at Timarti to her credit. H. Gray was in the saddle on the Boniform mare, and ho, rdso scored on Baritone in tho Trial Handicap. A. Hall's pair of racers, Phroso and Deniso Ormo, were well backed locally for their engagements at Takapuna yesterday, but owing to tbo heavy state of the tracks they were withdrawn on the course Frank Wootton's tonsils bare been successfully removed, states a Press Association cablegram from London.
