STOP INTIMIDATION!
IN THE GENERAL INTEREST, (By Telegraph.—Pre6a Association,) Dunedln, November 24. Tho Commerce Protection Committeo is of opinion that tho time has arrived when a statement should bo mado sotting out the purpose for which it has' been called into existence. It is neither a political organisation, .nor 0110 •sot- up in opposition to tho interests of labour. Tho committee are of opinion that ttiey would be acting in a manner diametrically opposed to tho best interests of the community and of tho workers if. they did not insist that trade unionism should, in common with every employer in the Dominion, bo subject to tho control .of the law. The position as it appears,to/the committee is as follows:— '
(1) All overwhelming proportion of the population is bcinc faced with loss, misery, and poverty by the prolongation of the strike. (2) Large numbers of men aro anxious_ and willing to resume work to provide for their wives and families, but are prevented from doing so by reason of intimidation arid fear of molestation. Tho latter condition must be ended, and the committee rely with confidence on the £>ood sense and order-loving instincts of tho great mass of people for support.
