HOW THE .E2500 WAS BAKED.
i The promoters and workers, connected with the', historical pageant and bazaar are ■naturally, pleased, at having successfully achieved their object in raising the sum 0f'.£2500. To have done this under favourable circumstances would have been an achievement,' but to have succeeded, in face of bad. weather, a race meeting, and a strike, made their effort the more gratifying. The sum actually received from tho bazaar and tho pageant exceeded ,£2OOO, while 'donations amounting to ,£420 have come in. In addition to this, Mrs. S. A. Khodes has promised to donate a. contribution of ' ,£SOO. After paying expenses (which, for both pageant and bazaar, will exceed .£100), a balance of over ,£2500 will remain.
