PEOPLE'S DAY. (By TclegraDh—Frees Association.) Christohuroh, Norerabor 14. People's Day at tho show is attracting a very large crowd. Country people are especially well represented. , • "THE ALPASS "ESTATE." The Alpass Estate, comprising grazing and fattening country, is to be offered by public auction at Mastorton on Thursday, November 20, subdivided into convenient-sized farms, varying fropo 695 acres to 876 acres. The land will ( be -submitted.by the Public Trustee practically without reserve, and in considoration of tho exceptionally easy terras offered, it is • anticipated that competition will be animated. ■ LAND -REPORT. I Messrs Abraham and Williams, the well-known i firm of auctioneers, , stock, and land agents, Rangitikei Street, Palmerston North, report having done most successful business in the land department during the past twelve months; and would no doubt have done better had it not been for the stringency in the money market prevailing throughout the Dominion, , which to a considerable degree militated against sales. .Quite apart from tho. splendid subdivisional sales which they havo carried through with such gratifying- results, both to the respectivo vendors and ,tho firm, exceptionally good business has been done in private sales, of both city and country properties. The business done during the year that has just closed is as under: —Auction sales, £209,000, private sales £1D7,000,,. making a ; grand total for tho year , of .£316,000.. "■ ■- ■'.•■■' ■ Manawajbu land is steadily growing in value, owing to the subdivision of the larger estates, the culling out of dairy herds, and the securing of higher-grade bulls; coupled with the improved facility for dairying.
