PRIVATE EXPRESSES.
A MEETING OF CITY DRIVERS.
A Meeting of about 100 private express owners and drivers was held in the Socialist Hall, Manners Street, last evening, Mr. J. Rogers presiding.. After some discussion, the following resolution was (according to the supplied report) carried unanimously:— 'That we as a body refuse to. do work that union drivers have been withdrawn from." Two other resolutions also stated to have be.cn adopted, were:—(l) "That this meeting expresses its sympathy to the Waterside Workers' Union, and Other unions at present on strike, and hopes that they will come out victorious." (2). "This meeting also strongly condemns _ the Government's action in bringing into the city armed specials, and demands their instant withdrawal."
A collection was taken Up for tile strike fund.
