DAMAGE TO SPECIAL TRAIN.
FURTHER PARTICULARS.. (By Telegiraph.—Bpccial Correspondent.) Palmorston, November 3. . When the train which was attacked near Tokomaru was examined on its return to Palmorston on Sunday, twenty windows were found- to bo broken, and there were dents in tho wood-work. It is reported hero that tho samo train was attacked at Feilding, but tho attackors wero routed by tlio passongors. The Fedorationists attempted to address a meeting* in the *Squaro on Saturday night, out, after some heckling, wero assailed by cries of "To tho fish pond." A crowd of a thousand persons surged' toward tho ornamental ponds, but tho fencing assisted tho polico to prevent the ducking, and tho orators oscapcd to one of tlio hotels, where thoy wero besieged for nearly an hour. A repetition of train-stoning is stated to have occurred near Shannon on Sunday, when a party was awaiting a polico special train, which, however, was diverted via Wairarapa. Thoy hurled missiles at a goods train crowd on Sunday, and a party hauifted the Palmorston Railway Station expcctihg to attack a polico special' train from Ilawko's Bay. Its diversion via Wairarapa disappointed them. On Saturday tho Manawatu Flaxmill Workers' .Union passed a resolution congratulating the Wellington watersiders on the solidarity of Labour throughout the Dominion. The engine-drivers waited on the meeting with a request that, at any open air meeting, a speaker should bo authorised to deny a rumour that thoy had sent a representative to Wellington as a special constable.
