GUARDING THE WHARVES.
NEW SYSTEM INAUGURATED, Complete means for speedy communication have been established 011 tho Wellington wharves. The , Harbour Board's private exchange at the Head Office has been connected with every
wiiarf from the King's AVharf right round the waterfront to tho Miramar jetty. Reports arrive at tho tolls office every half-hour from the patrols, and a staff of men are engaged recording these messages in a special set of books. Every half-hour, also, H.M.S. Psyche is communicated with, and the occurrences for that period given. Mr. A. V. Munro, w'harfinger, has taken up residence in tlio board room. At various times during the day and night he inspects tho patrols.
