DASTARDLY ACTION.
AN ASSAULT ON A TRAIN. OBSTACLES ON LINE. MILL 'AT TOKOMARU BURNED. (By Teflejrrapli.'-Prces Association.) Palmerston, November A large number of flax-mill hands at Tokomaru, members of the Federation, attacked a train which left Palmerston ax 10 o'clock last night, containing about 100 special men and workers. They broke the windows of the carriages with bottles and stones, and put a platform bariow across the lino and a milk-can. The engino ran into and threw them aside, and no damage was done. As tho train approached Tokomaru a fire was seen burning fiercely, and it was concluded by tho driver that tho threat to burn tho Tokomaru bridge had been carried out. Tho train was pulled up, but it was found that tho fire was at Liggins's flax mill which is near the lino. Tho mill was totally destroyed. Tho owner does not attribu to tho deed to any of his men.' The loss will bo considerable. Another Train Diverted. 'A Dannevirke train to Wellington today, with moro men, was diverted via Wairarapa, and a large body of Fed- , erationiats at Shannon woro diaappoint-
ed. It has been found that, in addition to breaking the windows of the train last night, Federationists cut ono of tho signal wires, and interfered witli the points, but thero was no damage therefrom.
