ON POSITION AT LYTTELTON. (By Tel«grapli.—Press Aflßoclatlon.) Chrlstchurch, November 2. Tho following communication from tho Strike Committee of the Lyttelton Waterside Workers was handed to the I'ross this afternoon: —_ 1 "An enthusiastic meeting of delegates from- Canterbury organised unions was held last night. Offers were received guaranteeing the billeting of tho wives and children of strikers and full support from all tho 1 organised unions in Canterbury. It was stated that splendid solidarity was being shown on the •Ljttelton water-front regarding the Ulimaroa. An endeavour was made by agents from Christchuroh to handle fruit under various reasons, but the handling of fruit was firmly refused. Re hospital and asylum necessaries; Tho Strike Committeo will bp only too pleased to give every assistance. Tho committeo ' emphatically deny having stopped any local food Bupply, and the action of some of tho local authorities in standing by watersiders has earned gratitude and support."
