UNEMPLOYED SHIPS.
THE AUCKLAND LIST GROWING. (By TeUffTftph—Press Association.)' Auckland, November 2. No change of any importance took place in the position on the waterfront 'yesterday. Tho pickets pursued _ their activities amongst shipping, and in the case of the coastal steamers arriving in port prompt measures wero adopted to prevent discharging operations being carried out. • The general effect of the almost complete stoppage of work was to give .the. wharves a .Sunday appearance.' With the exception of a few of tho Northern Company's steamers, berthed at tho eastern wharves, most of the shipping was anchored in tho stream. Two or three small boats got away on their usual trips, carrying mails, passengers, and a little cargo, loaded early in the morning. A big squad if strikers visited the Ngapuhi, which reached, port in the morning. Then they went to the Kanieri, which was discharging timber, and the Ngatiawa, which was taking in cargo for her usual trip to Opotiki. In each caso the work ceased. The sfcameiv knocked off handling coal on the Baden Powell and the Glenelg at the instance of pickets, but after communicating with tho local offico of tho Seamen's Union they resumed work. The Mahcno arrived from Sydney this morning, and after landing/passengers and mails, anchored in the stream. It is understood that the vessel will sail for Sydney on mail contract timo' to-mor-row-.
