THE TRAM MEN.
ATTITUDE ON THE CARS. The tram conductors are evidently determined not to carry free labourers or special constables. One conductor stated yesterday that he put two specials off during the morning.' Another stated that he had told one to get off, and had stopped the tram until the man did so. ' A member of the Police Force was getting on a tram at Thorndon last night when he w>s accosted hy a conductor, and told to get off. He was mistaken for a speoial constable, but when he explained that he was a regular officer he was allowed to remain, on the car. There was gummed up in one Oriental Bay car a newspaper dipping stating that the had decided not to carry free labour. The conductor was asked why the notice was up, "Oh," he said, "I put two off this morning." Two whatP "Two scabs." Ho did not say who he referred to.
