SCOTTISH CELEBRATIONS. Highland folk in Wellington celebrated "Hafiow-o'en" in tbo good old Scottish stylo yesterday. Tho celebrations began in tho afternoon when the 'web bairns" nssembldd in full force in St. Peter's Schoolroom and revelled m such old Scottish games as "ohampit potatoes," "doolvin' for apples," etc ' Highland dancing and singing interspersed nvado the afternoon a most enjoyable ne for the small folk. In tho evening a social gathering was held, dancing being continued from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Tho chief of the society, Air. A.' V, Thomson, mad* a short speech. Ho announced that tho efforts of the society in its endeavour to set up a club-room of 'ta own had at, last been successful, so that to-day their? now club rooms, in Fowlds'a Buildings, would be opened for the first time. The speaker extended a hearty invitation to all Scottish people in the eity to mako uso of tho rooms, On.behalf of Mr. R. Hull, Mr. Thomson then ore-, sented the club with a unique draught board in which the different square* were painted to represent all tho tartans of the various olana. During the evening the following lassies demonstrated their nimbleness of foot in Highland dances t-rMisses Ina Rogers, Jean Jolly,. A. and V. Campbell, and M. and J. M'Gillivray. Tho M.Q.'s for the evening were Messrs. J. Collins, J. M'Lellan, and D. King. Mr. A. Williams supplied, the dance music The attending the oolebrations is duo to'the committees headed by Mrs R. Fletcher and Mr. W.A. Allan respectively.
