HUTT BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The ordinary Meeting of the Etutt Borough Council was hold last night. There word present the Mayor (Mr. E.' P. Bunny), and (jguficillofs Hobba, Ball, Parsonage, Komptkonie, McMrum, Hodgms, and Dawson. Councillor Ball moved that the attention of the police bo called to the fact tftat numbers of motor-cars travelled through the Hutfc witllout numbers. Tlie motion Was carried. The circular .letter from Thames Borough Council asking co-operation in obtaining m amendment to the Slaughtering and Inspection Act, 1908, was read. It was aecided to co-operate in Ulie direction aslced with a slight modification to the lines suggested by the writers. ' Another circular letter in regard to the movement for obtaining power to establish municipal picture shows was read. The letter was received. In deciding to sond out final noticesof rates to ratepayers the Mayor remarked that outstanding rates now amounted to about £9000. The borough . engineer (Mr. W. J. Roche) reported that the new engine and iair compressor at the pumping station bad been installed and satisfactory trials had been made. The total number of gas consumers to date was 481. Permits issued under the drainage and sanitary by-laws numbered 809, while water connections numbered 946,.
