SCHOLARSHIPS AND PHIZES. • Mr. D. Robertson presided over the* monthly meeting 0 f the Wellington Icelmical ivdiK:;u.ion Board last evening, these present including: Messrs William Allan, J. G. W. Atiken. J, E. Fitegernid, J Smith, D. M'Laren, W- H. Field, G. Frost, and W. S, La Irobo (director), Tho financial statement showed a debit balance of £521 17a. Id., as Compared with a credit balaiieo of £232 6s. lid. Inst year. Tho outstanding accounts amounted to £1103. In considering the alteration of timetable and salaries, Councillor Frost suggested that in order to escape the rush for the lunch tramcars, the children should leave for lunch at 11.45 a.m., and vetum at 1.15 p.m., instead of at 1.30 p.m. Mr. Aitken hoped that Mr. La Trobo would see that the children got away by the trams before tho luneh rush started. It was also suggested that there he sis lesson periods per day instead of five. Both these alterations were agreed to, the alteration in time-tublo to take effect . from Monday next, Mr. R, W. Cameron offered to present the board with a model of the Horsfell destructor—one of the earliest invented. The offer was accepted with thanks. It was decided to offer, from £80 to £35 as prizes for students' work, and that tho prtao distribution be held on Wednesday, December 10, tho Governor (his Excellency Lord Liverpool) to be asked to present tho prizes. CALLANDER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIPS. Callander Memorial. Scholarships of £G were awarded as follow:— Building Construction—R. G. Hall and C. E. J. Price; carpentery and joinery—J. D. B. Martin. Domestic Economy—Evelyn B. Barr and Ida M. Russell. Electrical engineering—Alan Diehl; mechanical engineering—C. _S. Headland. Painting and decorating—James Irvin; plastering' and moulding—Harry Coleman. Plumbing—L. S. Armstrong, S. B. Curtis, .Tames Dunn, P. W. Johnston, T. B, Morris, and E. B. Topp. .FINE ARTS AWARD, There were' 48 exhibits in the students' competitions in connection with the Acadamy of Fino Arts, and tho prizes were awarded as follow: — Study of human figure, from life— Lima Williamson; study of head from life (black and white) —Mary Green; modelled study in tho round from life —Florence Roberts. , Piece of jewellory—Cassandra Pound. Study in still life—Evelyn Dawson, oommended.
