PALMERSTON SHOW.
On Wednesday next the twenty-eighth of the Manawatu and West Gbast A. and P Shows will be opened at Palmerston North. Readers will have already noticed the large increase in the entries as against last year, the figures of which were published in those columns 'a few days-ago. The progress of this show has been very remarkable, as will be acknowledged when it is mentioned that the entries have jumped from 2861 in 1911 to 4000 this year, an increase of 1139 in two years. There are some 411 entries in cattle alone, and, it must be borne in mind, all. high-grade animals representing many thousands of pounds in value. What the whole of the magnificent exhibits wliich will be shown approximate in value would be hard to say. That the show is growing in popularity is plainly evinced in the foregoing; moreover, it has already become the settling-up ground, so to' speak, for this Island at any rate, and to those wbo havo not yet bestirred themselves to visit one of these famous exhibitions should take next week's opportunity. Those not greatly interested in liv© # stock _ will find ample amusement in the ring events, as some' of the finest jumping in Australasia is seen at Palmerston North. In addition to this the collection of side-shows is one of the largest congregations that assembles in the Dominion.
