; NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL. INTERPROVINCIAL FIXTURES. At a meeting of the Management Committee of the Now Zealand Cricket Council Mr. G. F. Francis was unanimously appointed chairman for the season. It was dfceided to reply to a communication from tho Wellington Association that the council had been endeavouring for years past to carry out a suggestion tint teams from Australia should visit New Zealand four years in succession,, 'and New Zealand should visit Australia every fifth year, and that when t-lio New Zealand team was in Australia tho manager would bo directed to arrange for such a scheme being carried out. Tho Wellington Association wrote requesting a match with tho New Zealand team either before or after their return from Australia. It was resolved to replv that tho council was in communication with the Australian team to visit Now Zealand, with a view to playing a match New Zealand v. Australia in Wellington on January 26, 27, and 28. 1014. If this suggestion failed Wellington's request would then be considered. In reply to a, letter from Mr. L. G. Hemus asking if Au-ckland members could travel to direct from Auckland the council decided that it was absolutely necessary that the team should travel together, and avail themselves of a few days' praotice in Sydney before the matches commenced. A sub-committee nppointed to consider the question of dates for interprovincial matches recommended the following fixtures: —Auckland v. Canterbury, at Christ-church, December 19, 20, and 22. Auckland v. Wellington, at Wellington, December 25, 26, and 27. Wellington v. Canterbury, at Christchurch, January 1, 2. and 3. Otago v. Canterbury, at Christchurch, December 2-5, 26, anrl 27. Wellington v. Otago, at Dunedin, January 9, 10, and 12, allowing a match Wellington v. Southland if mutually arranged on dates between the Otago and Canterbury matches. The Wellington Association accepted tlio dates and arrangements wero being made for a match at Invercargill on January 6 and 7. The Otago Association stated that no provision had been made for a match Otago v. Auckland, and in View of tho Aucklanders' visit as far south as Christchurch it was resolved to point out that Auckland were to meet Ot-aso at Dunedin every four years, but the council would prefer Otago to make arrangements with tho Northern Association direct if a match was desired this season.
"CANTERBURY V. WELLINGTON. The City Council Inst night agreed to allow tho Wollinpctoii Cricket Association to use the Basin Reserve on November 13, 14, and 15 for the cricket match Canterbury v. Wellington,'with permission to charge for admission.
