CRICKET. GROUNDS FOR PUBLIC SCHOOLS. A deputation from the Public Schools' Cricket Association waited on the Heserves Committee of tho City Council yesterday afternoon to lay before the committee certain matters in regard to cricket grounds. Mr. liempleman, assistant master at Brooklyn, acted as spokesman. It appears that the association h&s been allowed for Friday afternoons some {en wickets on the city reserves free of cost, provided they prepare the wickets themselves. Last year they had been refused the use of tools and roller by some of the caretakers, and in consequence of this their play was hampered. They requested the Reserves Committee to arrango this year for the wickets to be rolled on Thursday afternoon or Friday morning, and to grant the use of such implements as may be necessary to completo preparation of the wickets. The chairman of the committee (Councillor G. Frost) gave a sympathetic reply. He considered the request was a reasonable one, and as the committee was anxious to encourage sport in the schools, the caretakers of the grounds in question would be instructed in the direction asked by the deputation.
