ROWING.
The Botone Rowing Gab's season, was formally declared opened by Mr. 11. Mothes (president of the club) on Saturday afternoon. In spito of tho southerly galo and rain there was a good attendance, the opening ceremony being performed in t'lio club house. In declaring tile- season open, tlio president congratulated tho club 011 tlio healthy condition of its finances, 1 « mid tho strength of it-s membership. Mr. B. Tromnin (captain of the club) extended a hearty ivelcomo to the visitors, and Messrs. Godfrey (Wellington Bowing Club), and J. Wo<jds (ex PetolieNavals) also spoke. During tho afternoon a gold medal was presented to Coxswain A. Wyiio. Coxswains F. Cometti, P. Watt, and J. Wyld were the recipients of silver medals. At tho conclusion of tho ceremony an impromptu concert was arranged, and a pleasant social hour spent. It was announced that, tho trial fours*- would bo rowed during this week,-with tho finals on Saturday afternoon.
