BURIED AT SEA.
5 7TWO DEATHS ON THE RIMTJTAKA. Tho voyage of tho Rimutaka , from London to Wellington, at which port tho Vessel arrived yesterday morning, was saddened by tho deaths of a passenger and a member of the crow. Tho passenger w'as Mrs. A. Phclan, of Wellington, who-died on September 8, just oftor tho vessel loft Toneriffo. Sho was returning from a trip to England, having been absent from the Dominion for about seven months. Sho made the trip Homo on the Turakina, which, jt will be remembered, was badly damaged by fire at Rio de Janeiro. Tho cause of death was heart failure. Tho deceased lady was about forty years of ago. Sho was buried at sea with all nautical honours, tho sorvico being read by Captain Hemming. The engines wore stopped during the reading of tho service. On October 2, while the vessel Was between Capo Town and Hobart, a second-class steward, :Mr. George Crowson, died of heart failure, following on n successful operation for peritonitis, which had been performed the previous day by tho ship's surgeon, Dr. J. Burnham. Mr. Crowson was a native of London. ' His body was also committed to the deep.
