WELLINGTON PRESBYTERY.

NEW HEBRIDES CONTROL. The monthly meeting of the Wellington Presbytery was held at St. John's Church last night, tho Rev. A. C. Randerson, M.A., presiding. Tho Rev. J. Gibson Smith introduced a deputation from tho Onslow charge (Khandallah and Johnson vi lie), consisting of Messrs. W. E. Nichols and F. W. Mansfield. Thoy reported that a practically unanimous call to tho Rev Jas, Cumming, M.A., of Waikiwi, Invercargill, 'had been signed by 134 members and 48 adherents. The prbsbytory resolved to sustain tho call and forward it to tho Southland Presbytery. The Rev. J. Comrio laid on tho tablo a call from the Evans' Bay congregation addressed to tho Rev. Hugh Beggs. Tho call was practically unanimous. On the motion of tho Rov. J. Gibson Smith tho call was cordiallv sustained. It being intimated that Mr. Beggs would accept the oall it was resolved that the induction tako placo oil Thursday, December 4.

On tho motion of the Rov. Dr. Gibb it was resolved to direct tho attention of tho Prime Minister and tho Government to tho evils of tho Condominium control of the Now Hebrides by tlio Fronch and British Governments, as recently alleged and submitted by a deputation representing tho Presbyterian churches of New South Wales, Victoria, and New Zoaland to tho Victorian Minister of External Affairs, who expressed tlio opinion that the convention needed to be revised, and suggested that tho Commonwealth'authorities would send a report of tho apparent evils of the Condominium to the Imperial Government. The presbytery respectfully suggests to the Prime Minister the desirability of tho Now Zealand Government uniting with that 'of Australia in drawing the attention of tho Imperial authorities to tlio evils and miseries resulting from the present dual control of >tho New Hebrides. ■■•■... 1 Tho Rev. W. Shirer moved that .the. congratulations of the presbytery be extended -to St. John's congregation in connection with -their., approaching diamond jubilee, and a commifteo was appointed to draw; up a suitable minuto. Reports were received from tho Home Mission stations Within the presbytery. It was decided to ordain Mr. Bain, of Island Bay. as a Homo Missionary, and tho. Revs. Dr. Gibb and W. Shirer and Mr. Pollock wero appointed a commission to carry out the ordination. The presbytery nominated tho Rev. A. Grant, s of Dannovirko, as moderator of tho General Assembly for 1914-15.
