NEW PLYMOUTH NOTES.
The season at the mountain has already set fairly in, and several parties ••aTO stopping at the Mountain House, while others havo booked rooms for the near future.. Although the mountain is heavily clothed in snow, it is in excellent condition for climbing, the snow not being too hard, thus obviating the necessity for cutting steps. Whilst motnr-oycling along the Junotion Road on Wednesday afternoon Mr. H. W. Lightband and a companion in a sidecar uad a voi'y narrow escapo from serious injury. A young heifer, which waa on tho side of the road, at tempted to cross in front of the motorists and a ; collision followed. The motor-cycle was very badly damaged, and the heifer was killed. Mr. Lightband and his friend were thrown 'a considerable distance, but wero lucky to escape with nothing more Bcrious than a severe shaking and a few minor cuts.
