WANGANUI NOTES.

The Hon. Jas.. Allen has intimated his intention of being present at the Wanganui Labour Day demonstration, if Parliamentary dutios pormit. In a letter to tho-committee, Mr. Allen oxpressed his gratification at tho encouragement which thoy are giving to tho defence movement by the inclusion of so many military events in tho programme. Yesterday's weather was a oompleto change from that of the paßt few weeks. It is very cold, and a southwesterly gale, which sprang up during tho morning, has been increasing in force ever since. There aro frequent heavy Bhowers which, however, are particularly welcome to farmers. • At tlio annual meeting of the Aramoho Cricket Club, tho report stated that the club was in a very satisfactory position,. the previous year's deficit having been wiped off. Tho present year was starting with a good credit balanco. Officers elected wero as follow:—Patron, Major Lomax: president, Mr. C. Kulch; vice-presidents,-Messrs. C. E. Mackay, A. Peter, L. Bridges, .S. Haywood, D. Kendrick, J Calver, A. Newman, J. M'Beth, R. Greenwood, W. A. Veitch, M.P.; captain! Mr. J. C. Bond; vice-captain, Sir. J. Lowe; secretary and treasurer, Mr. B. Spurdlo, tho last-named (with Mr. J. Bond) being dolegates to the Wanganui Cricket Association. At the annual meeting of tho Victoria Swimming Club offioers wero elected as follow Patron, Mr. A. S. Gordon; vioe-presidents, Messrs. P. Thomson, W. R. Tuck, W. A. Armour, F. K. Turnbull, R. P. Johnston, W. L. Bakewoll, and J. A. Simson; captain, Mr. M. L. Lampe;' deputy-captain, Mr. A. W. Spence; secretary, Mr. N. V. Jones; treasurer, Mr. G. M'Lean; delegates to Swimming Centre, Messrs. M. L. Lampo, A. W. Spenco, and N. V. Jones; delegates to Royal Life Saving Centre, Messrs. G. M'Lean and R. F. Johnston.
