0 PAST MAIL SCHEME FROM 1 IRELAND TO AUSTRALASIA. By Teleuraph—Press Association—Ocpyriirbl "Times"—Sydney "Sun" Special Cables. London, Octobor 7. It is reported that substantial progress has ueen made with a scheme for establishing fin express mail servioo between Britain and Australasia, via Canada. Tho several British ship-own-ing firms interested are treating with a Canadian svndicato for tho purchase of four hundred thousand acres at Capo St. Charles, Labrador, to establish an ice-free port. It is proposed to construct a trans-Continental railway to tho Pacific. It is claimed that tho journey from London to Winnipeg will be performed in five days, with an additional sixteen days to Sydney. Blacksod Bay, on the West Coast of Mayo, Ireland, will bo the headquarters of the service on this side, connecting by a special railway with the main service at Sligo. The promoters have arrived in Ottawa to enlist tho support of the Canadian Government.
