L.M.S. DELEGATES.
The Rev. A. W. Brough, of Erode, Southern India, and the Rev. G ; 6. Williams, the Australasian, organising secretary of the London Missionary Society, who are delegates to- New Zealand from the L.M.S., last night addressed a large congregation at the, Vivian Street Congregational Church. Mr. Brough gave interesting reminiscences of his experiences in India, and showedl how the offertories at successive harvest festivals in one poor village inoreased from 20 rupees and doubled each year until they reached 450 rupees, as a result of downright self-denial. As another instancoof the result of mission work, lie mentioned a hoy coolie who left liis native village to work on the rubber estate in the Straits Settlements, and not content with building a school there, sent 180 rupees for one to bo built in his own village, that amount being as much as a man could earn in a year.
