' LONDON PERSONALS. London, August 28. Mr. A. H. Wyatt, of New Brighton, Cliristchurch, is in England. Mr. John Cooper, of Hastings, after paying a visit to Russia, has left for New Zealand. Mrs. George Binney, of Auckland, and Miss Binney, are spending the autumn in Brittany. Mr. and Mrs. Alex Watson are spending some weeks at the Kyle of Lochaleh, in tho Highlands. Mr. Heinemanii announces for tho autumn publishing season, a work on "Social Welfare in New- Zealand," by Mr. Hugh H. Lusk. Mr. J. Purchase, of Dunedin, who is staying at the Manor House, Cliilthorn, Yeovil, Somerset, leaves for New Zealand in September. Mrs. Sydney Dodgsliun and Miss Gertrude Dodgshun, Wanganui, aro now in London, after spending some time in Yorkshire. Mrs. and Miss Thomas, of Wellington, who have been staying at Sundridge Park, returned to London, and leave again for tho Cintinent, where they will spend threo weeks, joining the boat at Toulon. Mr. A.ill. Fairoy, of Nelson, who camo to England in order to gam experience in tho erection and working of large electrical plant, is now at' tho worltß of tho Westmgliouso Company in Manchester. i Mr. and Mrs. J. Dawson, of Auckland, who are accompanied by .their three daughters, arrived in England recently, and havo taken a houso in Maida Valo. Before taking possession they will go to Yorkshire to visit relatives.. Mr. Roy K. Binney, of Auckland, who has returned to England after studying architecture in Italy, is now on a visit to Lady Marjorie Binnoy. at I'ampisford Hall, in Cambridgeshire, and , intends leaving for Now Zealand in February.

Mr. J. La Roche, who spent last winter travelling in the United State 3 and Canada, has since been on the Continent, and visited the English Lake District. Ho is now in Scotland, and intends going over to Ireland, before returning to London in time to join the Moldavia for New Zealand on October 3.

Jlrs. 0. R. Bendall, of Wellington, arrived in May, and was mot by her brother (M. Baradent,'of Buenos Ayes), in London, where they stayed for the Derby. They went oil to France, where most of Mrs. Bendall's relatives _ live, and are now on their way to' Switzerland and Italy for si month's tour, returning to Paris at the beginning of September, in order to go to Royan. Mrs. Bendall sails for Now Zealand by tho Komigin Louise on October 27. Miss Mary R. Barkas, M.Sts, who came to England to take a post-g»adu-ate course in Homo Science, at King's College, has been awarded the Gilchrist Scholarship for 1913-1914, and begins work on October 2. She attended laßt term tho advanced organic chemistry lectures, givon by Dr. Forster, at tho Imperial College of Science. Mr. "and Mrs. J. Abbott, of Wellington, have returned from a visit to Paris, and have taken a flat at Hanover Square, where Jlrs. Abbott will reside during her children's education. Mr. Abbott returns to Now Zealand at the end of the month. Mrs. Kenneth Duncan, Mrs. Abbott's sister, iB also in England. Mr. and Mrs. J. 0. Spedding, of Auckland, have returned from a motor tour of Scotland, in company with Mr., Mrs., and Miss Robertson, also of Auckland, and Mr. Sinclair Rodger, of Christchurch. Mr. and Mrs. Spedding leavo England for Ghent and Bejlin at the end of September, thence travelling b.v the Trans-Siberian Railway to Manchuria. They intend to visit Peking, Shanghai, and Kong-Kong, and they have booked their return by the Empire, leaving Kobe on November 13, so that they will arrive in New Zealand for Christmas. • Mr. ;J. B. M'Kinney, general secretary of tho Y.M.C.A., Invercargill, arrived in England in June, via' San Francisco. During his stay in America he visited the chief cities, and attended a workhouse boys' Y.M.C.A. assembly, held in Culver, Indiana.
