Mr. Blomfield, of. the "Observer," left for Wellington by the train at midday to ansv/er the writ served on him for alleged contempt of Court. Mr. Blomlield, in a motor-car, and escorted by the Garrison Band and a large crowd, drovo. through Queen Street to the station, where a crowd of about 1600 gavo him an enthusiastio send-off. The "Observer" case will come hefore' a Bench of Judges at tho Supremo Court to-morrow. Tho case involves tho proceedings instituted by the. At-tornoy-Genoral (tho Hon. A. L. Hordlnan) against W. G. Goddis and W. W. Blomfield (proprietors of the "New Zealand Observer"), alleging contempt of Court in publishing cartoons reflecting upon Mr! Justice Edwards and the administration of justice in tho Auckland Supremo Court. Sir John Findlay, K.C.,- and Mr. C. P. Skerrett, _ K.C., havo beeu retained by Mr* Geddis, and Mr. Thomas Cotter, K.C., Auckland, will represent Mr. Blomlield.
