The annual report and balance-sheet of the New Zealand Philatelic Society show tho society to bo in a flourishing condition, and its finances to be most satisfactory. By tho end of this month tho, society's handbook on tho stamps of New Zealand is to be on sale. The book promises to bo a very useful and comprehensive work, tho illustrations in particular being rather unique. This part of tho work has been carried out n.t the Government Stamp Printing Department, and in the easo of stamps which owing to their colour photograph badly, special printings have been mado in black in order that no detail_ may bo lost. In addition to these il-' lustrations, Mr. Charles Lathrop Pack lias genorously presented ' tho society with tho necessary blocks for printing six plates, illustrating many of Hie varieties in his superb collection.
