4 A meeting of the council of the Wellington Central Chamber of Oouimerco was hold last evening, the Hon. C. M. Luke presiding. A letter was received from the Department of Agriculture rclatiro to the publication, in Calcutta, of an Indian Year Book, which will contain a directory of traders in this Dominion who are to, or importers from, India. It was resolved to ask all members of the Chamber who wish their names included in the directory to notify the secretary to this effect. It was decided to call a general meeting of members of the chamber for Tuesday next, and it was also decided to admit the Press representatives to future meetings of the council. Subcommittees wero appointed as under:— Legislation, Messrs. It. Hall (convener), W. Jack, W. H. P. Barber, and J. Eoid; shipping and insurance, Messrs. H. A. Fox (convener), W. Smith, Bar- ■ ber, F. Townsend, and Hall; improved country communication, Messrs. A. Leigh Hunt (convener), Bush, Smith, Castle,' Reid, Hall, and .Fox; city and suburban railway improvement, Messrs. J. Brodio (convener), Winder, Townsend, and Jack. The president and vice-president aro to be ox-officio members of all sub-commit-tees. An arbitration committee is to be appointed later: Several now raorabers wofo proposed and elected.
