Tho earthquake is much more severe than any experienced since tho American possession of tho canal zone,., and was felt from Panama to Colon. Tho first shock was a slight one, but was followed by another of longer duration, which rocked tho foundations of tlio buildings. , No damage to tho canal is reported. (Roc. Octobor 2, 10.40 p.rri.) Colon, October 2. A severe earthquake damaged the houses here. Thousands of people rushed out into tho streets panicstricken. No lives were lost.
