LIQUOR IN CAMPS.
e AUSTRALIAN MILITARY OPINION. By Telegraph—PreßS Association—Copyright Melbourne, October 2. The opinions of tho various State Military Commandants on the question of whethor it would bo advisablo to reestablish canteonj in military, camps, las been tabled in tho Federal House of Representatives. A majority of the military officers in Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia, and Tasmania, favour the re-establishment of canteens under proper control. Tho New South Wales Commandant says: "The great majority of commanding officers recommend tliat canteens should in future bo allowed. I strongly agreo, and recommend that tho Act bo amended accordingly." Tho Queensland Commandant declares that unless the supply of liquor can be confined to those who are over 1 21 years of ago, tho sections of the Act prohibiting canteens should remain in forco. Tho Tasmanian Commandant, whilo personally favouring canteens, suggests that tho non-canteen system bo given another year's trial.
