INQUIRIES ON TEACHERS;
TWO POINTS FOR COMMITTEES. Rulings wero given by tho Education Board yesterday on two questions that will bo of interest to teachers in the district. The rulings wero as follow:—
(1) Question: "Whether, in view of No. 4G of the Education Board's Regulations, a school committee is justified in discussing in an open meeting of the committee, .verbal oomplaints against the management of a . school made by members of the committeo either on their own behalf, or 011 behalf of parents." Answer: The committee is not justified in discussing verbal complaints; overy complaint before the committee should bo committed to writing. (2) Question: "Whether a school committee, in proceeding to hold an inquiry based on a written complaint against the conduct of a teacher, is justified in refusing to supply the teacher whoso conduct is in question with a copy of the written complaint forming the basis of tho inquiry." Answer: In every caso a teacher should be supplied with a copy of the written complaint forming tho basis of tho inquiry.
