v . fr- — WRIT RE CONTEMPT OF COURT. (By Tcleeraph.—Press Association.) Auckland, September 29. William Blomfield, part proprietor of tho " Observer," has been served with a writ to appear at the Supreme Court, Wellington, to show causo why ho should not bo committed for contempt of Court in respect of cartoons' published in the "Observer" reflecting on Mr. Justice Edwards and tho administration of justice in the Supreme Court, 'Auckland. The writ served on Mr. Blomfield has been , issued by tho Attorney-Gene-ral. It seta out that ho did publish certain scandalous, insulting, offensive pictures '• or cartoons entitled respectively "Experience" and "Justice 13 not Blind," and referring to, Mr. Justice Edwards as a Judge of tho Court, and imputing to him pjirtiality, bias,' injustice, corruption, and impropriety in tho conduct of his judicial office and calculated to obstruct and interfere with the due administration of justice. In the alternative, tho Attorney-Gene-ral may be at liberty to issue a writ of attachment against the. said William Blomfield, and Blomfield may be ordered to pay the costs of thi3 application; or that, further, other orders may be made as the circumstances of the case may require. Mr. Blomfield leaves for Wellington by train to-night.
