S.P.C.A. MEETING.
' A meeting of the Society for tho Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was held last evening, Mr. R. H. Webb presiding.
The inspector (Mr. Seed) mentioned that for tho third time this week ho had had to destroy dogs, which had been injured by being run over. He stated that it was an offenco against the law for a person to run over a dog, and not stop to ascertain whether it had been injured. The dogs, lie stated, had apparently been left lying on tho road, to suffer a lingering death. It was decided to take proceedings against tho next person caught running over a dog and not stopping afterwards to ascertain the requirements of the case.
The inspector's report, which, mentioned various cases of alleged cruelty, was adopted.
