London, September 22. Mr. H. G. Wells's latest book, "The Passionate Friend," is_ exciting the greatest interest. In it ho expounds his philosophy of emotion, and holds that there are 110 universal laws of Affection, or of Desire. Many people are urging that tho libraries should ban tlio book, but the latter declino to prohibit it.
London, September 22. Mr. John Galsworthy's play, "The Fugitive," being staged at the Court Theatre with great success, might be labelled "tho general cussedness of things." It makes the audience feel that the world is all very sad, bad, and mad.
