On Saturday afternoon an inspection Nvas made of tho western arm of the Hutt River by representatives of the four local bodies interested —the Petone Coiuicil (tho Mayor and' Councillor Truoman), Lower fiutt (the Mayor and' Councillors Meldrum, Hodgins. and Fhypers), Hutt County Council (tho chairman, Mr. Galloway, and Councillors Welch and Wakeham), Hutt River (Board (the chairman, Mr. H. Baldwin; and Mr. Willoughby Knight). Mr. Fisher, overseer to the latter body, and Mr. Roche, engineer Hutt Borough Council, were also present. Although So decision was arrived at, the party .•was'enabled by tho visit to see the jtlanger of the natural dam that is forming with silt.
