WORK AHEAD FOR PARLIAMENT,

RAILWAYS AND PUBLIC WORKS

TIIO delay due to the recent obstruction debate has riot brought .the end of the session any nearer, but it is still considered possible that the business in hand may bo disposed of by the end of November, if no other unforeseen .delays tako place. ; The Minister for Railwavj Informed a reporter yesterday that tlie Railways Statement would probably be down this -week.

The Public Works Statement is still » long way ahead- and is not likely to ;make its appearance' x before the end of next month.

. Tho Lands Committee has completed its consideration of tho Land Bill and * that measure will be' reported upon and restored to the Order Paper this week. Tho consolidating and amending Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Bill is likely to be in tho hands of the Labour Bills Committee for somo weeks. .The Committee is still engaged upon the Shops and Offices Bill. It has completed the taking of evidence upon tliat -'measure, but still has to consider the •'clauses of tho Bill itself. Bills which ere to be introduced shortly include: The Native Land Bill, in charge of tho Jion. W. H. Herries, and a Eating 'Amendment Bill/ which deals with both (European and Native lands. The, Board of Agriculture Bill, which "Jias been introduced by tho Prime Minister, provides for the sotting up of, a fioard consisting of not more than twelve, Wmbers. Of these not mo/e than eight are to. be .elected by the' Agricultural nnd Pastoral Societies of tho Dominion «nd four members are to bo appointed ,l)v the Government. One of the Government nominees will be appointed as •president. It is thought probablo that /this office may bo conferred upon Mr. 'J. G. Wilson, president of tho New •Zealand Farmers'.'Union. It is intended that the board'should-meet once a (quarter. No salaries are to be paid to inombors, but travelling allowances will 00 granted. \
