Until the production of "Tlio Quaker Girl," which is to bo staged by J. C. Williamson's famous Royal Comic Opora Company at the Opera House for six performances, commencing on Monday night next, "Tlio Merry Widow," "Our Miss Gibbs," and "Florodora 1 " wore the most successful musical plays staged in Australia by the J. C. Williamson management,"but tlio achieve. nie»ts> of those favourito operas liavo now been completely overshadowed by "Tlio Quaker Girl," winch, jt is said, has all tlio concomitants that go to nmko a successful'musical play. Tho music is unusually good, and tlio book, too, is apparently much above the avorago—a pretty lovo tale in which tliero is a deal of actual romance. Miss Graco Palotta, who enjoys wonderful popularity amongst New Zealand playgoers, has a congenial role to portray m Madame Blum; critics in tho Commonwealth con. sider it tlio finest thing she has dono. Miss Olaiin'ke Browne as Prudence, tlio pretty little Quakeress, it is stated, quito overshadows her performance in "Our Miss Gibbs," tho success of which was duo in no small measure to her excellent and artistio portrayal of tho name part. "Tho Quaker Girl" will introduce Miss Jessio Lonnen (sister of tho lato "Teddy" Lonnen) and Miss "Billie" Barlow, two of England's most popular Gaiety artists; Miss Olive Godwin will make a welcomo reappearance in the rolo of Princess Mathilde. Mr. Jack Cannot, tho new leading comedian of the Royal Comic Opera Company, it is said, gives an extremely humorous characterisation of the part of Jeremiah, and Leslie Holland l as Tony Chute is. it is said, at hisi very best. Mr. C. R. Bantock always gives a good account of himself, and he has a congenial part in Nathaniel Pvm. Mr. Franik Greene, who gave New Zealanders a tasto of his ability and voice in the part of Panilo in "The Merry Willow," will play the important rolo of Prineo Carlo. Messrs. lon Maxwell, Arthur Lissant, and Frederick Roado, and the Misses Vera Peareo and R/ivby •Annfield, and Mrs. George Lauri are also happily cast. A fcaturo of tho production is the orchestra and chorus, which will be nnder tlio direction of Mr. Victor Campion. Incidental'to Act 111 will be presented by Mr. Leslie Holland and Vera Pearce the "Dn.nse do Champagne," which created quito a sensation m Auckland recently. Tlio box plans for tho six performances of "The Quaker Girl" will bo opened at the Dresden on Thursday morning next, at 9 o'clock. A queue will bo formed from .8 a.m. During tho season of 13 nights "The Sumshino Girl" (threo nights), "Miss Hook, of Holland" (two nights), and "Tho Belle of New York" (two nights) will also be staged^
