SCHOOLS & THE BIBLE,
WOMEN'S MASS MEETING.(By Telegraph.—Apodal Correspondent.) Palmerston North, September 16. r A women's mass meeting was held in the Municipal Hall yesterday in support of the Biblo-in-schools movement. It was addressed by tho Revs. A. Doull, 'A. Don, and AV. G. Rosher, and by Mesdames J. Young, Crabb, and Wallace.
Mr. Doull said that the league desired to obtain a referendum on tho subject, and, when the Prime Minister was shown that this was tho settled conviction of 20 per cent, of the voters he would doubtless grant a referendum. ■ Tie meeting carried tho following resolution. proposed by 'Mesdames Crabb and Wallace-"That this mass meeting of women and mothers of Palmerston cordially endorses the objective of tho league, and pledges itself to do all in its powor to secure a referendum. It further requests the Government, at the earliest opportunity, to grant tho people of the Dominion the necessary legislation which will enable them to say with regard to the question what they wish to be done in schools supported by their money and attended fcj; thair children.
