_ Yesterday, under ! tho direction of Colonel 6. N. Johnston (Direotor of Ordnance) shooting took place from Fort Ballanc© by tno R.N.Z.A., to test tho Now Zealand pattern elevation dial for tie 12-pounder quick-firer, and it ,was found that the dial worked very well under a rapid rate of firo. Somo tests were also mado with tho 6-poun-der. quick-firer to teat a safety arrangement in connection with the breach mechanism, and lihis was also satisfactory.
