A Silver Wedding. , Our Otaki correspondent writes that a silver wedding of more than usual interest was celebrated at their residence, Hautcro Road, Te Horo, recently by Mr. and Mrs. J. Guy. So rue sixty guests wore present. Four generations of tho Guy tarnily, all of wnom were boru in Now Zealand, 1 were present, viz.—Mrs. G-uy, of Wellington (Mr. J. Guy's mother); Mts. G. Duncan (Mr. Guy's daughter); and the latter's daughter (Miss Jean. Duncan). Other relatives wero: Mr. and Mrs. H. Guy and Mr. and Mrs. C. Guy, of Palmerstoii North: and Mr. and Mrs. Crosier Guy, of Nelson. The silver wedding cako was inadei by Mr. S.'Scott, of Wellington, who also made the cake on the occasion of Sir. and Mrs. Guy's marriage, twenty-five years ago. Tho health of Mr. and Mrs. Guy was proposed by tho Rev. I'ctrio, and seconded by Mr. D. Mickell (the oldest resident of tho district), who spoke highly of tho manner in which Mr. and Mrs. Guy assisted at all functions in the district and tho esteem in which they wero held by residents during thoir residence hero. Mr. and Mrs. Guy received many valuable presents to commemorate tho occasion. Tho guests spoilt a most enjoyable and pleasant evening. Mr. and Mrs. Guy were married at Tokorangi, Stanway, 011 September 13, 1888,. tno Rev. Mr. Harris being tho officiating clergyman. Mrs. Guy was the youngest daughter of Mr. Geo.' Millner, of Wellington, and Mr. Gu t v is the eldest son of Mr. Jos. Guy, builder, of Nelson. Wedding in St. Mark's. A very protty wcddiiig took place at St. Mark's .Churoh, Sussex, Square, 011 Wednesday afternoon, when Miss Ethel Rouso, daughter of Mr. F. Rouse, of Wellington, was martied: to Mr. Charles Pavitt, sou of Mr. Thomas Pavitt, of Brougham Street, Wellington'. The .bride, who was , given, away 'by her father, woro a gown of ivory duchess satin beautifully draped andl trained. Her veil was fastened . with orajige blossom,' and she carried a shower bouquet of white roses, freesias, and clematis. The bridesmaids were Miss Gertrude Rouso, sister of the bride, and Miss Phyjlis Spencer, a niece of tho bridegroom. Both wore charming frocks of heliotrope crepe do chine, and protty wlvito hats, and carried bouquets of lupin and maidenhair. Mis 3 Rouse wore a pendant of amethysts, and Miss Spencer one of aquamarines.and pearls, both being gifts of the bridegroom. Mr. Austin Pavitt was best man, and Mr. Harold Fox groomsman. As the bridal party left the church, Miss Gladys Watkins, a cousin of the bridegroom, played tho "Wedding March." 'Subsequently a reception was held at the residence of tho bridegroom's mother in Brougham Street, only the immediate relatives and' friends of both. families being present. The bride's going-away dress was a navy bluo tailor-made, worn with a white tagol straw hat. Spring Flowers and Sale of Work. . A Bulb and Spring Flower Show and Salo of Work, in aid of the funds of the Anglican Church, was held on Tuesday and' Wednesday, September 16 and 17, in the Drill Hail, Paliiatua. It was opened by Mr. G. Harold Smith, in the unavoidable absence of the Mayor (Mr. David Crewe). An influential committee had beon preparing for tho gathering for several months past, tho ladies especially having been very energetic. The display of blooms was an attractive one, and reflected credit on local horticulturists. Tho entries of tho cut-bloom sections wore good, and among them were as many as ten and twelve exhibitors in soveral of tho sections, as well as in the decorative and homo industries classes. The principal prize-takers were: Mesdames H. S. Morrison (Ngaturi), James Breeds (Ngaturi), H. M. B. Marshall, A. Nelson (Fori), P. Neilson (Eketahuna), J. D. C. Crewe, N. Cornelius (Mangahao), G. C. Cox (Hiiiemoa), J. P. Findlay, J. Grut, W. Wakoman, Smith (Hamua), Herbert (Paliiatua), P. Hulloch, Dr. Dawson, G. Russell (Paliiatua), Russell/ Graco (Ngaturi), Shckleton, Misses Sinsted (Tane), V. Eddie (Mangahao), A. Burgess, B. Warron, Whibley (Mangahao). Mr. J. D. C. Crewe was tho lion, secretary.

An 'At Home." Mrs. Gladding was the guost of honour at an "at home" which was given by Mrs. Shirtcliffe yesterday afternoon at her residence in Tinakori Road. Greatly to the interest of tho guests, Mrs. Gladding spoke of tho _ way m which her sympathy and. admiration for tho work of the Young "Women's Christian Association had first been aroused Mid of tho way in which its operations had been extended. Miss McLean was another speaker. Mrs. Shirtcliffe woro „ black gown with white lace, and Mrs. Gladding was in wine-coloured velvet with laee and a largo hat with white feathers. Reception at Pioneer Club. Members of the Pioneer Club entertained Miss Frances Hodgkins, the New Zealand artist, at a reception at the Pioneer Club yesterday. The president, Mis. A. It. Atkinson received, and a very pleasant afternoon was spent. Miss Batten sang several songs, Miss Belworthy played, and Miss Wallace recited. Bowls of beautiful rhododendrons wero set about tho common room, pink and white in colour with centres of a still deeper shade of pink and, in tho common room where tea was laid, tho tables wero arranged with spring ilowers. Mrs. Atkinson woro a striped black and blue costume, and a black feathered hat. Miss Hodgkins woro a dark velvet corduroy coat and skirt and a black toque. A dance, organised by the Newtown Tennis Club for the benefit of tho refreshment stall of the Boys' Institute bazaar was held in the New Century Hall, Kent Terrace, last evening.. Mrs. J. P. Luke, .the Mayoress, is tho convener of the stall.
