THE LADIES' CHAMPIONSHIP. MRS. "WILLIAMS WINS THE FINAL. (B.v TeloErapli.—l'rcas Association.) Napier, September 17. In tho soini-final of tho ladies' golf championship, Miss Robieson led Miss Collins 1 at tho turn. Tho bunker was halved in 6, making Miss Hobieson dormy 2. It was now too late for Misß Collins to recover .the ground lost, Miss Hobieson winning Bellamy's with 4. The holder of the cup went down, 2 to 1. Mrs. Guy Williams (Masterton) met Mrs. Slack (Manawatu). Mrs. Williams won the first three holes, and then Mrs. Slack won three in succession, making tho game all square. Mrs. Slack had a good chanco of winning tho seventh, but lost tho put, and in tho sarao manner lost a hall' at the eighth. Tho remainder of the gamo was equally even, but the honours went to Mrs. Williams, 2to 1. Tho match was very closo throughout, and had Mrs. Slack been a little stronger in putting sho would probably havo carried tho last hole.
Championship Final. This event bogan at 1.30, and lasted two hours. Miss Hobieson won tho toss. Both played good drives and "brassies," Miss Hobieson being right undor tho bank and Mrs. Williams 30 yards away, from which position she got a beautiful lofting approach within a few feet of tho flag. Miss Robieson's ball was so closo to tbo bank that, notwithstanding her good shot, sho just struck the top, tho ball rolling back. At tho next shot she repeated this performance. Her fifth was well up. but too lato, Mrs. Williams winning a very pretty nolo in 5. Both drove well to The Willows. Mrs. Williams struck tho top of the bunker with her second, and was a bit short. Sho recovered with a good iron on to the edgo of tho f;rcen. Miss Robieson's second was lalf way to tho bank. Sho played a good third, and won tho hole, owing to a bad approach by Mrs. Williams Miss Robieson drove well to the Blackberries. Mrs. Williams just clipped the poplar on the loft, and lost tho hole owing to missing a foot putt. Going to Smith's, Miss Robieson struck tho bank, but ran up. _ Mrs. Williams played a beautiful straight drive,--and with her iron, got to tho edge of the green. Miss Robieson used horbrassy, and just passed tho flag. The holo was halved in 5. Mrs. Williams got the hotter drive going to the Ridge and played a beautiful second on to tho edgo of the green. Miss Eobieson's brassy took her down on tho right. Tho hole went to Mrs. Williams—s to 6, making tho players all square. Mrs Williams played a beautiful iron shot to tho river. Miss Robieson, using tho brassy, pulled badly, but luckily through the bunker, halving tho hole in 4. Both drove well to Wilson's, Mrs. Williams's second being superior. Miss Robieson's third took hor through tho fence bovond the groen and hor fourth struck tho wires. Mrs. Williams won with 5 to 7; Both playorß drove well to the Raupo, but again Miss Robieson failed with her brassy and struck a jiost, resting undor tho style, from which sho had to play a short ono with a result similar to the last, leaving Sirs. Williams 2 up again. Both players got in good drives to the Sheepyards, but Miss Robieson taking hor ey9 off from her second, landed in difficulties. Sho recovered well with a good iron, but lost the holo by 6 to 5. Mrs. Williams 3 up. At the turn, Mrs. Williams sliced her iron, and stopped near the fence, but played a good approach,. tho putt lying dead. Miss Robieson's first was short, and landed ill.jthe-bunker..;. Sho got well out in her second, but failing to lio dead, she lost, tho hole by 4—3. Mrs. Williams was now 4 up. Two good drives to the Oasis were followed by two good "brassies." Miss Hobieson sliced hor third, whilo Mrs. Williams got a nice straight one, and won tho holo in 5, leaving her five up, and 7 to play. Both players got a good length to -;b<>' Terraco, Miss Hobieson landing short on her second, but playing a good third. Mrs. Williams played a lovely second just beyond the Pen, but 'failed in her third, and halved tho hole in 5. Both, played tho return excdllontly, halved it in 5, making the mi\tcli dormy 5. Two good balls were driven to the Pa, but Miss Robieson sliced badly over tho Graveyard, and Mrs, Williams duffing a ball- for tho first timo. Both recovered well, but Miss Robieson laid a stymie, and won the hcjlo,. Botli drove nast the bunker, going to the Junction with goo'd seconds. Mrs. Williams's superior approach putt, enabled her to scoro in 5, thus wiiining the match—G up and 3 to play.
In tho Consolation Bogey Match, Miss Crosse came first among the short handicap players, and Mrs. Darby among: the long handicaps. In the play-off for tho second place for the Coronation Medal, Miss Callendcr won.
