Botween Ormondville a,nd Norsowood the country presents a distinctly picturesque appearance. Nearly every sfittler's homestead is surrounded by wattle trees, which ore profusely in bl«jn, -and the contrast botween the beautiful yellow and the green pastures and foliage is very striking and pleasing in appearance.
A dog poisoner is reported to bo at work at Patea, whero several valuable dogs have died from , this cause during the past few days.
Considerably more milk is being received by the Norsewood Co-operative Dairy Company at the present time than at the corresponding period last year. So far this season, only butter has been manufactured, but after September 20 the operations of the factory will be devoted to the making of cheese. At New Plymouth yesterday the first shipment of dairy produce for the sea-1 son was taken away by the Corinua.
' Lambing is being attended with every success in the Ormondville and Norsewood district this season. Remarkably good percentages have been recorded in various localities, but a. destructive element —the usual sheep-worrying mongrel—has made his presence felt in many quarters, and a number of farmers have armed themselves in readiness for future attacks.'
Sheep continue to increase in tho Pahiatua County. The latest returns, which are made up to April 30 last, show that at that date there wore 217,159 sheep in the country, as compared with 211,9? t S at the end of April, 1912, an increase of 5251. The figures for tho Akitio and Eketaliuna counties ai;o as follow: —Akitio, 1912 278,403, 1913 281,402, increase 3036; Eketahuua,. 1912' 81,787, 1,13 87,511, increase 5724. The total increase for the threo counties is 14,038.
