HATAITAI CLUB. The annual report of the Hataitai Bowling Club states that although tho nominal roll of members, which now stands, at 81, shows a slight falling-off, tho club is really on, a better footing in this respect than at any previous stags. Many who joined when tho club was formed did so more with a. view cf assisting the project than with -be intention of taking part in the game, oi.d several of these, having materially helped to this extent, desired to be relieved of future payments consequently. The directors havo reluctantly had to forfeit these shares.' A considerable n'imber have a.lso left the district. Against this falling-off, which was always anticpaced, there was an influx of 15 new lumbers, and of tho 81 members now on the roll there are very few who are likely to withdraw. , One very pleasing feature is the prospect of;, a "Considerable'increase during tlie coming" season, some 'dojwn gontlemon having intimated their intention of joining the club. ; In' arranging the interalub games for tho coming season nearly every alternate Saturday and Wodnosday havo boon'retained for homo play. It is anticipated that this course will not only enable the club to gradually strengthan the ranks of its representative players,. but will induce and encourage the advent of new members.

The two directors to retire by rotation this, year are Messrs. Hunt ard Mitchell. These ftre eligible for r reelection. The following have been nominated for election for the ensuing icar: —President, Mr. C. H. Penny; secretary, Mr. G. Hendry; treasurer, Mr. J. W. Kinniburgh; directors, Messrs. Jones, Rhodes, and Ballinger (three vacancies).

The To Hiwi Bowling Club has decided to open its green- in Mr. C. Hill, sen.'s grounds at Island Bay, on Saturday, October 18.
