BOXING.
UNIVERSAL WEIGHT LIMITS. Mr. R. L. Baker, of the .Sydney Stadium, is convening a conferonco of those interested in boxing matters in. Australia, to bo held in Sydney on' Friday, October 3. The object of this conference will be to consider a number of /matters affecting the welfare of boxing generally, the two principal considerations being: (1) Tho adoption of weight limits for the various divisions, with tho idea of subsequent adoption of universal weight limits throughout _ the world; and (2) the standardising of the allowance of points in referecing contests.
Tho weights which. Mr» Baker intends •submitting are as follow: Bantam, Bst. 61b.; '.leather,' 9st.; light, 9st. 91b.; welter, lOst. 71b.; middle, list. 61b.; light-heavy, 12st. 71b.; heavy, any ;■ weight.
